Guided by Faith, Serving Together

The Season of Creation

The Season of Creation, September 1st to October 4th, is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together. During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home. September 1st was the World Day of Prayer for Creation, but Pope Francis has invited Catholics to participate in the whole season; ‘now is the time to rediscover our vocation as children of God, brothers and sisters, and stewards of creation. Now is the time to repent, to be converted and to return to our roots…We are beloved creatures of God, who in his goodness calls us to love life and live it in communion with the rest of creation. For this reason, I strongly encourage the faithful to pray in these days that, as the result of a timely ecumenical initiative, are being celebrated as a Season of Creation.'

Outreach

The mandate of the Outreach Committee is to be the external face of the parish responding to the socio-economic need of the community within the parish boundaries, engaging in community based support activities such as foodbank drives, clothing drives, social justice and development and peace initiatives, refugee initiatives, environmental stewardship, charities at home and abroad, etc.

If helping in this capacity would be of interest please contact Heidi Matthews.

Please see additional resource links below for more on our parish’s commitment to social justice and care for creation.
